Jennifer Shrader Lawrence was born August 15, 1990 in Louisville, Kentucky, the daughter of Karen (Koch), who runs a children's camp, and Gary Lawrence, who once owned a concrete construction firm, Lawrence & Associates. She was cast as Katniss Everdeen in the upcoming 2012 film, The Hunger Games, which is based on the first book in The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins.
Lionsgate has released the first trailer for the film adaptation of The Hunger Games. It is an upcoming film directed by Gary Ross and based on the novel of the same name by Suzanne Collins. It stars Jennifer Lawrence. The movie is set in the future in the ruins of what was once North America and is now known as “Panem”. The story centers on Katniss Everdeen portrayed by Jennifer Lawrence, a young woman who must survive a televised fight to the death between her and teenagers from other the other districts of Panem.
Katniss Everdeen takes her sister's place in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to death on live television. The story is in a post-apocalyptic setting in which the country of Panem contains twelve districts, with the Capitol in the center. The Capitol controls the Hunger Games in a reminder of the failed rebellion against the Capitol 74 years ago.
